Its a great book! I never liked the kind of books where the main characters fights a monster or whatnot, but this book has a lot more then fighting. It is intense to read and very interesting!!! 🙂
After reading this book, my general impression is that this book is very interesting; it is an untrue story based on Greek mythology, all of the descriptions and explanations of the story makes this story seem real. And I think is very gripping and non-stoppable, I just cannot put it down after I started reading it. This book let me learn and grow a lot-it increases my knowledge about Greek mythology, it taught me a lot of lessons when I was just enjoying reading interesting stories. I think this book is very useful and meaningful, it is not just a book, it also teaches you a lot, not only about Greek mythology, but also about how to be a good person, how to achieve something etc.
The author is very good at creating suspense and grabbing the readers’ attention. At the beginning of the book, when Percy’s identity is still not determined and cleared yet, the characters are always talking about something involving Percy that the readers did not know yet. He did not explain those parts, because he wants the readers to read on and keep thinking about this while reading along. This is the first part of what I like best of this book. You would not get bored when you are reading. The second part is that this book has very clear conflicts. Conflicts between characters and characters; the monsters are always trying to kill Percy, Zeus also wants to kill him, and different little struggles with gods, such as Ares. They solve all the problems and turn them to success.
The third part is that this book is a little bit serious with a lot of humors; the mood is very appropriate. It is not stubborn and boring, but when it has to be serious it goes back to the topic quickly without letting you think it is weird.
However, there are some parts that I think need to be improved. The book has too much foreshadowing; the real truth comes out at the end of the book, which I think should have appeared earlier and with more details.
My mind has changed a lot after reading this book. I used to be an atheist, I do not believe in gods, myths etc. I think they are all fake, no matter how much other people persuade me, I still do not believe in it. However, after reading this book, I started to think that maybe these gods really exist; we just cannot see it because of the mist. When it is raining now, I start to think about that maybe the god is sad today.
My favorite character in this book is Annabeth. She is intelligent; and she always has a plan to solve problems. She helps Percy on this quest even though her mother-Athena is against his father-Poseidon. She does not care about all those conflicts; she just wants to help Percy and Grover to finish this quest. If she did not go with Percy on the quest, they might not have been able to succeed.
My emotions were changing with the events happening in the book. When Percy killed or escaped from a monster, I am very happy and satisfied about how he did that. However, when Percy’s stepfather- Smelly Gabe bullied him and he had to tolerate it, I was angry about what he did to him. My emotions were always tied up with the character’s experiences.
Overall, this book is very appropriate for my peers to read. It is just perfect for readers at our age. Because older people will think it is too childish, low leveled and boring. For younger people, they would have to do a lot of research about the gods and goddesses and Greek culture to understand the story. There is also vocabulary in this book that they might not know. I strongly recommend this book to my peers, you will not find it boring or hard to read, you will always find new things inside this book every time you reread it. It teaches you many lessons, for example anyone can be a hero if they try hard; you have to be brave to achieve something; and wisdom is very important, even strength needs to bow to wisdom sometimes etc. All of these facts make this book very good for reading and I believe it will soon become a classic.
Interestingly, this book reminded me a lot of the Jon Turteltaub and Jerry Bruckheimer movies. Ah, never mind. They have lots of fun action in them, and as they avoid the traditions of writing huge epics, they make it funny for young readers. Although most of the time they make some nontraditional twists with plot, such as how the ancient gods of Greece uses modern technology (such as iPod, iPad, laser guns, and go to love rides in parks), they also give a traditional structure for it, like how the evil rises with the defeat of a supposedly finished battle.
It’s really great book! the other percy jackson are also great. this is that kind of quest novel, i usually didn’t like quest novels because i think that quest novel should end when the quest is finished, but almost all the quest novel don’t they keep come up with new quest and keep selling the book. nothing is related to the last book except for the characters. but percy jackson and harry potter really change my mind, the plot of the different books is very related to the other books in this series. so i think it’s a great book.
Percy Jackson and the lightning thief, by Rick Riordan
This book is a fiction book about Greek myths. Percy Jackson, a modern ADHD New York boy finds out that he is really the son of the Greek sea god, Poseidon, from the old myths. Then Percy finds out something important has been stolen and he himself is accused of it. So Percy and his two new friends, Grover the satyr and Annabeth who is the daughter of the goddess of wisdom, Athena, sets out from Camp Half-blood to go to the under world in the hope of retrieving the stolen objet and saving Percy’s mother on the way.
This story is humorous and explains the Greek myths in a way that kids from the 20th century can understand. I personally started reading this at about fourth grade and I’m still enjoying it now. So I think you can start this book when you’re older or younger. P.S: Thiz book iz OSM!!!!
I am a huge fan of Rick Riordan. This book was amazing, and it had hints of humor that made me crack up. The plot was good, with a interesting rising and falling action, and everything was so easy to understand and catch up on. People from all ages can read this book without getting bored, and the start of the book is something like this (didnt want to spoil it).
Percy is a random teenager boy who has adhd and was kicked out of many schools. His mom, sally, is a very nice woman and she doesnt mind. He has a good friend named grover. One day, a teacher attacks him and after he evaporates her with Mr.Brunner’s pen-sword, he gets kicked out of school and he believes that Mr. Brunner, the history teacher is hiding something from him. He goes home and confronts his smelly stepfather. His mom takes him on a suprise trip to montauk, but when he was about to settle down in the cabin, grover warns them and they go to camp half blood.
This was the first book i read about mythology, and now i am a huge pj fan. I even memorized all of the prophecies in PJO and HoO. I reallly love this book and i totally recommend it!
Percy Jackson—the lightning thief is a very good book that I commend. This story is not real and is about greek myth but the plot is really good.
Percy is a boy that is half -blood.Half human ,half god,and his father is Poseidon, the god of the sea.I thought Percy is really a good person,he is brave and very friendly. But I think I do not really like him,and I think I like Annabeth more.Annabeth’s mother is Athena, although I think Annabeth dos not have a really good temper, but she helps a lot on the journey with Percy.
So I commend all the people to read it,the story is very attractive, and it is good for all people who love read fiction books.
This book was written by Rick Riordan, published on April.1st.2006. This is a magical novel, basically about Ancient Greek mythology, but the plot in the story is in nowadays. “The lightening thief” is one of the stories and also the first story of “Percy Jackson” Series.
Our main Character is Percy Jackson——the son of Poseidon and a human’s children. Also with his friends Grover and Annabeth which is also “half-blood” (half human half god). The main plot is about the adventure of the 3 kids. This story has some similarities with “Harry Potter” —— they are both about magic and adventures. The story has used a person to fully showed the Ancient Greek mythology, so you need plenty of knowledge about the background of Ancient Greek mythology. The story is exciting and humorous, so I recommend this book to some lower age readers. The story has combine modern technology and also the ancient magic of the gods together, so I think this is where the bright point of the story is.
Percy Jackson and his friends were not welcomed by the gods in the first place, because they were “half- bloods”, but after Percy had finished a really good job, all the gods changed their point of view about these 3 kids.
If you are seeking for a magical and full of adventures story, then I will recommend this one—— the whole story is interesting, and it will attract you a lot.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
This is a very fascinating book. The main character Percy Jackson is a boy from New York who suffers ADHD. He couldn’t get himself out of trouble, and that’s why he has a long list of schools that refuses to take him in. He has a good friend called Grover and his favorite teacher was called Mr. Brunner.
When Percy went on a school trip, he met a monster and Mr. Brunner threw him a pen-sword. And for that, he got kicked out of school. But before he leaves, he accidentally heard his friend Grover and Mr. Brunner talking about him.
This book is the first book I have ever read about Greek mythology, this is a good start for who is greatly interested in mythology and legends.
After reading this book, my general impression is that this book is very interesting; it is an untrue story based on Greek mythology, all of the descriptions and explanations of the story makes this story seem real. Percy Jackson – The Lightening Thief. A great book of elements of mythology and features now days. The author wrote the book making me think that all parts within the Greek mythology was a fact. What was best about the book was how I was inspired by the characters’ actions, as the characters were so realistic, and made me think that they were true.
Overall, this book inspired me with religion and personality.
After reading this book I started to pick up every pen on the floor and hoping it is a riptide(KIND OF), this is the book that starts seaweed brain’s sarcastic adventure with the smart girl and the goat boy, just imagine your teacher as a fury and your best friend as a satyr, if you’re not Percy you probably will faint on the spot.I think the part that I really hate is when Percy’s stepfather “Smelly Gabe” was saying stuff like Percy bullied his mother, he is a stupid kid blah blah blah, I really want to shadow travel Percy right in front of this big fat meanie and let Percy stab them on the spot even though I know Percy’s riptide can’t kill mortals.
Now Luke, he is the villain in this book but I just can’t hate him, he has his difficulties he doesn’t do things just because he likes it, he does things because of his irresponsible father Hermes, I’m not gonna spoil more things but I’m he really rocks in the last book.
this book is a super cool book i this story Zuse’s lighting bolt is gone the gods think is percy jakson how still the lightning bolt. then percy jalson want to prove that he didn’t still the lighting bolt. if he didn’t stop him then the gods is gonna have a war between each other but at last they found out that luke son of hades steal the lightning bolt at last percy jakson battle each other, percy win the battle they went to Olinpus to give the lighting bolt back to zuse and stop the war.
After reading this book, I started to doubt about my math teacher could be a goddess of vengeance(even we didn’t have a bad relationship). It’s a really interesting book anyway, even sometimes I’ll imagine my teacher will give me a “pen-sword”, but it didn’t happen lol.
“Percy jackson” is amazing, when a friend told me that, I was wondering: Is that book really that awesome? but, it makes me feels like that when I finish reading it. The story is built on the real life, so it makes me always thinking about a question, Is my classmate a half god?
Its been three years since I opened the first book of Uncle Rick’s masterpiece. I’ve forgotten many of the details in the book now, but I still feel obliged to write a review, because such a book deserves one. this book was recommended to me by Henry, and I did not expect much from the title. It must have been some random book about a random guy and a random story, I thought then. But since I’ve read another book of Riordan’s, “the maze of bones”, I decided to try this one. And it surprised me. Caught up in an entire new world of greek mythology, I was intrigued by the content. This book really linked greek mythology to our modern normal life, not unlike Harry Potter’s story, but I believe this to be better. I loved everything I read, from the sassy jokes of Percy Jackson and the awkward behaviour of Grover the satyr. This book is an epic. So are the other Rick Riordan books. If you don’t mind learning Greek Mythology while cracking up, this book is a must read.
AMAZING.
