I gave Catching Fire 3 stars, because although it has an exciting, suspenseful plot, I was disappointed. I don’t like books which end on cliffhangers! I also found Katniss’ character frustrating in this book – she seems more passive than she did in the first book, allowing other characters to tell her what to do rather than taking control herself. However, it was still an enjoyable read, and anyone who liked the first book in the series should definitely keep reading!

Although Catching Fire has many things that Hunger Games did not, such as the much darker tone, and the complications of the characters being revealed, Catching Fire lacked the fresh ideas around every corner, and constant suspense that Hunger Games had (probably because more is hidden from the reader back then).
