Sorry, we haven’t got this in our Library yet!

Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escaping meant he would get his life back. But no one knew what sort of life they were going back to…

Burned  and baked, the earth is a wasteland, it’s people driven mad by an infection known as the Flare.

Instead of freedom, Thomas must face another trial. He must cross the Scorch to one again save himself and his friends…

This is the sequel to the Maze Runner, by James Dashner (spoilers from the Maze Runner, YOU ARE WARNED)

Yet another dystopian books about teenagers trying to survive in harsher environments. It’s been done so many times before, and we all know the famous ones: The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc., but can James Dashner pull it off?

Well, let’s look at this from different perspectives. Let’s start with the story.

The story is of course, a little less creative than the first one, because this is the sequel of the first one, but it still delivers in plot twists. No spoilers here, but the book contains a lot of twists, that many readers might not see coming, for the better or for the worst.

Then there’s of course our characters. As the stories and events progress on in the scorch trials, testing them in every single way and degree, the characters’ relationships grow more intense. You see some interesting chemistry between characters, including introducing new characters, and seeing how they react to our little team of ‘maze runners’. Old characters makes new tensions and rivalry, as more people are in the story, and more are racing to the finish line.

Then there’s the background. They are now out of the maze, in the ‘real world’. They’re in somewhere much similar to an arena (tribute to the Hunger Games), where the world is destroyed by solar flares (as shown in the first book) and this virus is killing everyone. There are no more governments, and people live in small groups that hunt for available food. This makes the world a much darker place, in opposition to the maze where everyone is working together to live happily (much happier compared with the life in the scorch).

The tone in this story has also gotten much darker (as most sequels do… it might wear thin on readers who were expecting it, but… the tone is still interesting in a way that you’re opening your eyes for the first time after leaving the maze).

But, as always, the second book in a trilogy usually has a cliffhanger so the last book can be more intense, and more people will be looking out for it. I can’t say it’s effective every time, but we have seen many author succeed at that, such as Catching Fire, Tiger’s Quest, and Insurgent.

Overall, this book although contains many predictable character motivations and the story might not be surprising for some, but it’s definitely worth a read of James Dashner’s depiction of the future.

The Scorch Trail is an awesome book. I will give this book 5 stars. It’s the second book of The Maze Runner. It is similar to The Maze Runner. Thomas and his friends beat the Maze, now, they are going to the second test, the Scorch. The gladers have 2 weeks to run out of the Scorch, the Scorch is the most burn section on the Earth. There was a city in the Scorch that is really burn, and there were Cranks lived in the city. Cranks were veery very scary, they kill people, and then take out their eyeballs and eat them!!!!! At the last second, Thomas and his friends ran out of the Scorch. Many people died in the Scorch, but Thomas alive.

The Scorch Trials is the second book of The Maze Runner, explaining what happens after the Gladers got out of the Maze and facing another section of test: The Scorch. The Gladers were told to reach “the safe haven” within 2 weeks, if not, they will die becuase of the Flare. They also noticed that there is another group of candidates. People died during the trip, and they met the Cranks at the city, who would like to help them if only they get the cure. Thomas, the main character of this story, is being one of the most active Gladers in the group, finding ways out and get everyone save. On the other hand, the other group of candidates were suppose to reach the save haven, but having one more misson, which is to kill Thomas having Teresa with them. If not, they will catch the Flare and die, though killing Thomas was only an act only to let him feel betrayed by Teresa, one of his best friends. The Gladers successfully survived from the danger with Cranks named Jorge and Brenda helping them. I was so surprised about how Teresa’s actions, torturing Thomas and pleading him to trust her at the same time, and told him that is wsa just an act WICKET asked her to do. But that wasn’t it after they reached the save haven, killed the new monsters and got onto the Berg, they were suppose to get their cure, which leads the readers to another conflict and another book.

i like this book, is interesting. at the beginning James found out they are still in the wicket or some thing that is called. then they want to escape from there, also there is a kind of virus that turns people in to a monster, one of their friend got scratched by a monster before him self turn in to a monster he killed him self because he don’t want him self to turn in to a monster but there is one thing that James did not realise is that the wicket did some thing to tersa that let become a spy that spy on those friends. at last meno got take by the wicket.

o’m expecting more on the third book.

This book will not just make you excited but this book will make you want to read more. This book, The Scorch Trials is the second of the Maze Runner series, the Maze Runner for me is probably the best book I have ever read and it brings me to Scorch Trials. The Scorch Trials is an amazing book that tells you everything that happens after the Maze because the Maze was just the start even though Thomas the main character of the story thought it was the end but it was not. This book has a very interesting story behind it.
