The Silmarillion is a history of the Elves and Men of the First Age of Arda, before the defeat of Melkor, and after the creation of the world. The book is formed by several short stories, and there are few of them that ends in victory and friendship. Throughout the book is a narrative of sorrow, despair and tragedy. It is after the spilling of the blood of thousands, does the evil of this world be vanquished and sent to the void outside the world. The mood of the stories are generally depressing and sorrowful. It is no doubt one of the most beautifully written fantastic novels ever written.
