BOOK REVIEW: Recently I am reading Gone with the wind, which was written by Margaret Mitchell. In my point of view, this is a really nice book to read and I like it very much.
The protagonist of the book is the girl whose name was Scarlett. She was the oldest daughter of O’Hara’ s home. She was pretty, and nearly all the boys in the town love her, however, she loved none of them but another young man Ashley, who didn’t love her but his cousin Melanie. The war began, Scarlett’s parents died by diseases and accidents so she began the pillar of Tara, in this situation, she was forced to be brave and adamancy and grow up. Because of different situation, she married two men who she didn’t love at all, nevertheless, Ashley was still the person she loved. After Melanie die, she realized that the one she loved was not Ashley, she thought she loved Ashley just because Ashley didn’t love her, and the one she really loved was Rhett who helped her again and again during the hard time. But at that time it’s late already, Rhett felt disappoint about her and left. At last, Scarlett cried and said: ‘tomorrow is another day’, which she always says.
In this book there are many different emotions. You might laugh, you might feel sad, you might feel anxious, but all of these can make you interest in the book more.
I like the book because it sounds really real. The characters have different traits: Scarlett was selfish but doughtiness; Melanie was weak but kind-hearted; Ashley was cowardice but politeness; Rhett was smart and neutral…the stories are various and connect neatly, and interesting to read.
In this book, my favorite character is Scarlett O’Hara. Yes, she was selfish, she was acerbity, but she was brave, she can dance, she can take care of the wounded soldiers, and she can work hard in the field. She can survive in the wartime and can help others survive, she is independent in her own, and that’s why I like her best.
I will probably recommend this book to others. I think I will recommend it to some of my friends because I think this book can let them know that as a female, we can’t just rely on others, but need to be independent.

Gone With The Wind is a novel that was set in North Georgia at the time of the American Civil War, from 1861 to 1865. The southern plantation owners fought the northern Yankees for the right to own slaves. The South lost the war, and suffered a heavy lost.
The main character of this story is Scarlett O’Hara, the daughter of a big plantation owner. Before the war, She was a spoilt and selfish girl. Given by God the gift of Beauty and exquisite charm, she could charm as many men as she could by her tilting green eyes with bristly black lashes and a 17-inch waist. But Despite of all that, there is only one man in the world she truly loved. It is Ashley Wilkes, who is a great gentlemen at their time, he honored Honor more than anything else in the world. Unfortunately, Ashley didn’t love Scarlet, he loved Melanie, who was soft-hearted and kind and never think bad in anyone, she loved Scarlett as her own sister. Although Ashley never loved Scarlett, she tried very single way to try to take Ashley from Melanie. But at the end, when Melanie was dying, Scarlett finally realized she didn’t really loved Ashley, Ashley was just a childish fancy, she loved him because Ashley was not like the other men she knew who loved her, if Ashley loved her and begged her like the other men her love for him would disappear and gone with the wind. The man she loved was Rhett Butler.
Rhett Butler was a dashing renegade, he was not a traditional gentlemen, he was sly and had no manners. Rhett was full of contradiction, and that was the reason that he was so charming to Scarlett’s eyes, he was always the symbol of strength and power. Rhett loved Scarlett as a man could ever loved a woman, they were obviously meant for each other, he always shielded and protected Scarlett from fears and darkness. But at the end when Scarlett finally realized she loved Rhett and not Ashley, Rhett’s love was already vanishing because of Scarlett’s stubbornness.
I like Scarlett very much, her determination, her vivacity, and her full of responsibility. She was never a coward, she was she took more burdens and responsibility than Ashley could ever take.
At the end, Rhett left her, but Scarlett didn’t broke down, after all, “Tomorrow is another day”. I recommend this book to all the students, we could all learn from Scarlett about strength and independence.
